We all tend to forget one important part that we really need to incorporate into our beauty regime and that is cleaning your makeup brushes! I am definitely a culprit of this! Really we should be washing our make-up brushes at least 2-3 times a month, at the least I say! But it really depends on how often you use your brushes. If we do not clean them then bacteria will grow on the bristles which will be then transferred to your skin - which definitely wont end well! It could lead to infections or break outs.
Most of us want our brushes to last a very long time and if they are not cared for properly then this could lead to them deteriorating and falling apart.
Tips on caring for your brushes
-Never store your makeup brushes in the bathroom as there is a higher risk of bacteria getting on them.
- I have heard of brush guards, which are supposed to help them to hold thier shape, Have any of you ever used them? Let me know!
- One way you can store your brushes is by putting them, bristles up into a cup, vase, holder or mason jar.
- When storing them ensure they have enough space and are not all squished together.
-Do not use them too vigorously when applying makeup

One thing you can do to help both your skin and makeup brushes is do not share them with your friends. I know, I know your friends may think your odd or get annoyed with you, but really it spreads bacteria and could cause you and your friend to break out.
This is how I clean my makeup brushes but there are other ways.
You will need:
-Warm running water
-Makeup brush cleaner or baby shampoo such as Johnson's.
-Dry towel or face cloth
1.Gather all your dirty makeup brushes by the sink.
2. Put a small amount of baby shampoo on your hand.
3. Taking one brush at a time gently swirl it into the shampoo- If I feel the need to I normally dab the end of the bristles in water first so that it will form a lather when mixed with the shampoo.
4. Rinse the bristles under warm running water but try not the get the part where the bristles meet the handle wet, as the water could damage the glue and cause it to fall apart over time.
5.You may need to go back with the shampoo again until the brushes look clean and the water runs clear.
6. Carefully blot the brushes on the towel to get out extra water. Next lay them on a flat dry towel. Always lay them horizontally so the water doesn't seep down the bristles. Another thing you could do is have the tips of the brushes hang over the table to ensure the brush does not lose it's shape.
And your done!
How do you clean your brushes? Have you any tips on caring for them? I am interested on hearing your thoughts.
