Cinema: Insurgent and Cinderella

As it is the easter holidays I have been to the Cinema twice this week, which is definitely out of the ordinary for me! The two movies I went to see were 'Insurgent' and 'Cinderella"

Insurgent

I am a huge fan of the Divergent triology and read all 3 books in 3 days! I had high hopes for this movie, which I think were achieved.

It has been a while since I read the books but I felt that the movie was slightly more action and fighting than in the book. The special effects were spectacular and definitely added a whole different dimension to the movie.

As always Shailene (Tris) and Theo's (Four) chemistry was amazing and they captured their characters relationship perfectly. I couldn't imagine anyone else playing this duo! Shailene is gorgeous although I wish her hair was slightly longer and Theo is Wow! (Had to add it in!)

As I said, I did read the books a while ago so the story line was not fresh in my mind and watching the movie I got slightly confused. Imagine what people who have not read the books will be like. I think it was due to how fast paced each sequence was it didn't give the view enough time to process what was happening. By the end I had figured it all out again.

One thing I thought was different from the books was it didn't really capture the sensitive side to Tris, they made her more of a badass (Which I definetely liked!)

Ansel Elgort really got more into his character (Caleb) with his scenes compared to Divergent, he really portrayed the betral brother so very well. Naomi Watts was introduced as Four's mother, she is an amazing actor but she looked far too young to pull off being much older than Theo James! I also loved Miles Teller as Peter more in this movie than in the last, to counter act all the intense action, he was made into a funnier more lovable character.

All in all I loved the movie and would give it an 8/10

Cinderella

Disney Movies are always so good! I am a sucker for them. Hasn't every girl always dreamt of being a princess and wanting spectacular ball gowns?!

I didn't really have much expectations for this film as I had not seen the trailer before hand, that being said I did not realise it wasn't a musical version as I had just presumed. None the less even though it was not musical it was still very good.

Cinderella was played by 'Downton Abbey's Lily James, She is the perfect Cinderella her hair is fabulous! Everything was so visually stunning and her Gowns were gorgeous, especially her wedding dress! (I want it!) Cate Blanchett was the cruel evil step mother and she portrayed this character exceptionally well.

I would say though that this version isn't for little kids (under 6) as the start is very sad and some children may be upset by the wicked step mother.

The message throughout the storyline was "have courage and be kind." which I loved it is such a good message to tell everyone, not just little children.

I knew from the start that this movie was going to be good and I would give it a 9/10

If you see these movies, let me know what you think! What other movies would recommend to see??
